KING, NC – Mrs. Hilda Clayton Murphy, 94, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Village Care of King.
Mrs. Murphy was born November 26, 1923 in Durham, NC to the late Banks and Evver Clayton Sr. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She received nursing degrees for Florida and North Carolina. Mrs. Murphy enjoyed Nascar racing and adventurous women. She loved to travel, cook, fishing, singing, and loved the Lord. Mrs. Murphy was an avid car fanatic and drove powder puff derbies. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Mrs. Murphy is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Murphy; parents, Banks and Evver Clayton, Sr.; daughter, Helen Murphy Wright; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her son, Johnny Banks Murphy (Linda); daughters, Joanne Meeks Gains (Phil), Marie Watson Poole, Linda Murphy Cole; 14 grandchildren and multiple great and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Watson, Brad Watson, Tony Meeks, Ben Gaines, Greg Murphy and Mark Hawley.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, 2:00 PM September 6, 2018 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held one-hour prior from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Hudson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Dan Hill. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
