Iris Jacobs Spence

DURHAM- Mrs. Iris Jacobs Spence, 80, passed away, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Spence was born July 15, 1938 in Person County, NC to the late McManning “Doc” and Clara Ford Jacobs. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Spence is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Leon Spence; parents, McManning and Clara Jacobs; brothers, Bobby and Alfred Jacobs; sisters, Ella Mae Donahue and Betty Owen.
Mrs. Spence is survived by her son, Keith Spence of Durham, NC; daughter, Patricia Weaver (Thomas) of Stem, NC; brother, Boyd Jacobs of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Thad Dawson, Joey Dawson, David Dawson and Savannah Spence; great-grandchildren, Taryn Dawson, Tristan Dawson, Alex Dawson, Garrett Dawson, Cara Dawson and Juliet Dawson.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields.
