James Bruce Lawson

DURHAM Mr. James “Bruce” Lawson, 93, of Durham, died on Saturday, December 8, 2012.Mr. Lawson was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late James Bryar Lawson and Elsie Mae Carver Lawson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and World War II. He owned and operated Lawson TV and Appliances for 30 years. He was a member of Holloway Street Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Bryant Lawson and a granddaughter, Debbie Lawson Wheeless.He is survived by son, James Kenneth Lawson and wife, Linda of Rocky Mount; daughter, Patricia Ann Lawson Killian and husband, Leonard of Spartanburg, SC; one sister, Sybil Lawson Cougle of Durham; four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. A private burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. before the service at Hudson Funeral Home.
