James Edgar Ladd III

LADD IIIDURHAM Mr. James Edgar Ladd III, age 84, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home. James was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Jim and Lula Bell Harris Ladd. James was raised and resided on North Benjamine Street. For over 45 years, James was a part of J. E. Ladd and Son Transfer, from 1973 until his retirement in 1991. He was the owner and operator of the Durham business. James was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He attended Liberty Baptist Church.James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Hagerman Ladd; four children, James IV (Linda) of Durham, Diane Barham (Danny) of Wake Forest, Roger (Sandra) of Durham, Pamela Isaacs (Larry) of Rougemont and his sister, Edna Earle Burrage (Ben) of Durham. James was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jack Cox and Pastor Ron Christ will officiate. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, James Ladd V, Jeff Ladd, Michael Ladd, Kevin Ladd, Stephen Barham, Jonathan Barham and Seth Isaacs. Honorary pallbearer will be Ed Andrews.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
