Jerry Layne Matthews

SNOW CAMP Mr. Jerry Layne Matthews, 79, of Snow Camp, passed away on Saturday, 14, 2018.
Mr. Matthews was born in Harnett County, the son of the late Robert Horace Matthews and Annie Kate Norden Matthews. He was a small engine mechanic and loved his work. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and loved to joke around and make people laugh. He was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church in Snow Camp. He was preceded in death by his son, David Matthews and two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Ray Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Matthews; three sons, Ervin “Pete” Lane (Pat) of Snow Camp; Thomas R. Clayton (Jacqueline) of Timberlake and Phillip Matthews of Yanceyville, VA; two brothers, Joseph Matthews (Shela) and William Roger (Phyllis) both of Durham; grandchildren, Jacob Elliott Clayton and Berry Michael Clayton.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Dennis McDonald will officiate.
