Joyce Gayle Hayes Brinkley

Mrs. Joyce Gayle Hayes Brinkley, 86, passed away on June 12, 2022, in her residence surrounded by family.

Gayle was born August 16, 1935, in Durham, NC, a daughter of the late James and Clyda Hayes. Mrs. Brinkley was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, getting her hair done, and loved to paint and color pictures. Gayle cherished spending time with her family, especially going to the beach together. She was beloved by all her grandchildren and will be remembered as a devoted grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Brinkley was preceded in death by her husband, Lehman Mayton Brinkley; sons, Martin “Marty” Brinkley and Timothy Brinkley; and daughter, Sharon Brinkley.

Mrs. Brinkley is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Greene, Jeremy Shadrick, Ashley Brinkley McKinney, Brandi Brinkley Goodwin, Michael Brinkley, Brett Brinkley, and Cory Brinkley; as well as 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2022, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens with Pastor Devin Warfield officiating.

Flowers are acceptable.
