Lenley “Bud” Barton, Sr.

Mr. Lenley (Bud) Barton passed away September 1, 2018, at Croasdaile Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Durham, N.C after a long and courageous battle with cancer and dementia. Mr. Barton was born August 7, 1941 to the late Edgar Barton and Ada Jones Barton of Bluffton, Indiana. Bud’s career was in the United States Air Force, in which he proudly served for many years, until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 7 in Durham. He loved sports, his family and his little dog, Mikey. To know Bud was to love him. He never met a stranger and had the biggest heart ever. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.Bud was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Brenda Bazen Wright last December.Mr. Barton is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Barton; his daughters, Jessica Robbins (Don), Hedie Weins (Scott), Kathie Lowe (Dana), His sons; Lenley Barton, Jr. (Debbie), Loren Barton(Anita), James Shields (Jennifer), Chris Lane; His step daughter, Angela Bazen and his steps sons, Bill Bazen (Rose) and Tony Bazen (Shirley); sisters, Patty Barton and Nancy Barton and sister-in-law Frances Foster; Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Of special importance is his best friend, Mike Banty, who was always there for him and Rachel.Family visitation will be held at Hudson Funeral Home, Friday, September 7th, 2018 from 6-8 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bud and Rachel’s church on Sunday, September 9, 2018, 2:00PM  Roberson Grove Baptist Church, 5203 Cheek Road Durham, N.C. 27704 . A luncheon will follow the service. Pastor Jack O’Neal will officiate and Minister Wendy Neal Major will offer the eulogy. The musical tribute will be offered by Lenley Barton, Jr., Chris Fulford and Wendy Neal Major.Flowers or plants are acceptable, or you may choose to make a memorial contribution in memory of Bud to Roberson Grove Baptist Church.Well done, good and faithful servant. Your life was one very well lived.
