Lizzie E. Williams, of Durham, died Friday, July 30, 2010. Mrs. Williams was born in Granville County to the late James Ira and Annie Lee Currin Evans. She had been a member of Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church since 1950, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years and was a past member of The Ruth Circle. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha H. Williams; a brother, James Samuel Evans; and a sister, Daisy Evans White. Surviving are a son, James Williams and wife, Alice, of Durham; a daughter, Annie Mae Fox and husband, Anderson, of Durham; a sister, Lillie Evans Walthall of Durham; five grandchildren, Janet Harris, Vickie Goff, Brenda Lugar, Rhonda Hagan and Tina Bryant; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ron Snider. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hudson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, James Williams, at 2123 Little Rogers Road, Durham, NC 27704. The family would like to thank her caregivers at United Hospice and Durham Ridge.
