DURHAM Mrs. Lois Smith Spell, 86, of Durham, died on Saturday, February 15, 2014. She had lived at the Croasdaile Pavilion for the past 2 years.
She was born in Sampson County to the late Fred Benson Smith and Iola Hair Smith. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elven Benson Spell.
She is survived by her son, Floyd Spell (Paula) of Roxboro; three daughters, Willa McGhee of Stanley, NC; Loretta Little of Rougemont and Karen Knox (Carl) of Raleigh; two sisters, Marie Williams of Durham and Bernice Rodriguez of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren, Chad McGhee, Chris McGhee (Keri), Paul Little, Jonathan Little, Amanda Davis (Tommy), Shannon Carson (Allen), Stephanie Muma (Troy), and Megan Knox; 1 great-grandson, David Carson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chad McGhee, Chris McGhee, Paul Little, Jonathan Little, Tommy Davis and Allen Carson. Flowers are acceptable.
