Lucy Honeycutt

Lucy Jane Oakley Honeycutt, 97, of 1709 Marly Drive, died Monday, October 25, 2010, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation. Mrs. Honeycutt was born in Pittsylvania, VA, to the late John and Emily Ethel Covington Puckett. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Adult Women’s Friendship Class. Before retiring she was employed by the American Tobacco Co.Surviving are a son, Larry Oakley and wife, Faye, of Durham; a sister, Lillie Terry of Danville, VA; three grandchildren, Sunny Oakley, Larry Oakley Jr. and Stephanie Oakley; and a great-grandchild, Bryce Oakley. Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by her husband, M.L. Honeycutt and her former husband, William Eugene Oakley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Joseph W. Griffin. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.The family will receive visitors one hour before the service at the church and at other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable.
