SEAGROVESDURHAM Mr. Manning Earl Seagroves, 84, our beloved one went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 13, 2010.Mr. Seagroves was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Lindsey Paschall Seagroves and Lessie Pearl Lewis Seagroves. He retired after 25 years from McLean Trucking Company. Mr. Seagroves was a member of Glendale Heights United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Joe Goehring Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Men. He was known at church as the “Candyman” because he enjoyed giving candy to the children after church. He loved all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bobbie Andrews Seagroves; two sons, John Seagroves (Mavis) of Timberlake and David Moody (Dianne) of Youngsville; one daughter, Pam Dennis (Larry) of Durham; one sister, Rose Smith of Durham; grandchildren, Lisa Marochak, Todd Dennis, Patrick Moody, Bryan Moody, Ginny Oswald and Diana Koutsis and eleven great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Glendale Heights United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Adam Brinkley and Rev. Ed Bogie. Burial will be in Markham Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Todd Dennis, Bryan Moody, Patrick Moody, Glenn Oswald, Mark Marochak and Terry Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Fitch, Larry Brock, Ty Tucker, Ralph Bender, Charlie Sanderfur, Tom Werner, Tom Bruce, Norman Crew, J. T. Garrett, Eddie Ligon, David Woodell, Dr. Trig Brown, Dr. Stewart Jones and Dr. Richard Bruch.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at the church and other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable or memorial gifts may be made to Glendale Heights UMC, 908 Leon Street, Durham, NC 27704.
