Margie Cates Finch

DURHAM- Margie Marie Cates Finch, 81, of Durham passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. She was an native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Arthur Green Cates and Lonnie Carlton Tuck Cates. Margie retired from Belk’s in 1996 as a top Sales Lady, after over 15 years of dedicated service. She loved her Soap Operas and playing Solitaire on her computer. Margie was an avid Duke Basketball fan. She will be remembered as a loving wife and the best mom and grandmother. Margie unique personality and honesty will be deeply missed by anyone blessed to have known her. She was preceded in death by brothers, Henry A. Carlton and Clarence L. Cates.
She is survived by her loving husband Travis E. Finch, Sr.; daughters, Barbara M. Strickland and husband Gary of Youngsville, Regina Oakley and husband Trinity of Hillsborough; step-daughter, Teresa F. Jones of Durham and Lynne Ellington of Youngsville; step-son, Travis E. Finch, Jr. (Rhonda) of Durham; brother, Danny Rose Cates of Durham; sister, Sue Cates of Durham; four grandchildren. Seven great-grandchildren; and other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Reverend Johnny Hewett will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be, Gary Strickland, Wendell Williams, Trinity Oakley, Edward Finch, Jr., Tim Nichols and Justin Finch.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
