Marie Herndon Culbreth

Marie Herndon Culbreth, age 89 formerly of Durham, NC passed away December 30, 2017 in Sweetwater, TN.

Marie was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Apex, NC. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Marie enjoyed gardening, listening to gospel music and cooking for her family. She especially loved making chocolate cakes for her grandchildren. But more than anything else, Marie enjoyed spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Jim Culbreth; son, Tommy Thompson, Jr.; parents Will and Lucy Herndon; sister Ola Grace Herndon; father of her children Tommy Thompson.

Survivors include her daughters Jeannette Ramsay of Gainesville, FL; Janet Goldman of Tellico Village, TN; son Russell Thompson (Linda) of Erwin, TN; grandchildren Kirsten, Brownrigg, Tammy, Dawn, Jennifer, Laura, Kathryn and Kelly; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Apex, N.C. Sunday, January 7th at 3PM preceded by visitation at the church at 2PM. Burial immediately following service at Mt. Pisgah cemetery.
