Marlene Bledsoe Ross

DURHAM Mrs. Marlene Bledsoe Ross “Granny”, 78, of Durham, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.
Mrs. Ross was born in Wake County to the late Henry Bledsoe and Doris Sorrell Bledsoe. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Medical Claims Adjuster. She was a member of Leesville Road Baptist Church and the XYZ Seniors at Carr United Methodist Church. She was an honorary member of Lynn’s Crossroads Ruritan Club and the Bethesda community Jolly Group. Marlene has been a loved and dedicated member of the Leesville Road community, serving any and all that needed her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim “Buck” Ross and a brother, Harold Bledsoe.
She is survived by her son, Marshall Ross and wife, Geneva of Durham; two grandsons, Thomas Ross and wife, Cheyenne and Matthew Ross and “lady friend” Sarah; two brothers, Douglas Bledsoe of Hillsborough and Norman Bledsoe of Greensboro; sister, Rennie Johnson of Youngsville; and her dog and faithful companion Paco.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am at Leesville Road Baptist Church. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Brad Geercken, Brian Ferrell, Jimmie Massengill, Scott West, Joe Mitchell and Brent Brogden. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Lynn’s Crossroads Ruritan Club and the members of the Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department as well as all of her “adopted grandsons”
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 5108 Sky Lane Drive. Flowers are acceptable.
