Myrtle Carroll

DURHAM- Mrs. Myrtle Mangum Carroll, 76, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020.

Mrs. Carroll was born on July 14, 1943 to Amphrias and Luna Mangum in Durham, NC. She was employed at IBM for over 14 years as a manufacturing technician. Myrtle was a former member of Gospel Church of Durham, where she was an active member and elder. She was a faithful prayer warrior. Mrs. Carroll loved reading books, especially by authors John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks, and James Patterson. She enjoyed trading books at her beauty shop. Myrtle loved her family and their gatherings; her great grandson was her pride and joy. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents, Amphrias and Luna Mangum, and her husband, William Earnest Carroll. She is survived by her son, Donnie W. Carroll (Zena) of Durham, NC; daughter, Tammy C. Dozier (Mitch) of Chapel Hill, NC; brother, Earl “E.J.” Mangum (Ruby) of Butner, NC; sisters, Shirley M. Hayes (Ken) of Harkers Island, NC, and Wanda M. Munn (Gary) of Creedmoor, NC; grandchildren, Donald “Donnie” W. Carroll Jr of Durham, NC, Jonathan M. Carroll (Brittney) of Mebane, NC, William P. Dozier of Charlottesville, VA, and Jackson M. Dozier of Chapel Hill, NC; great-grandson, Brayden M. Carroll; and many beloved nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Reverend Chris Tuttle. Pallbearers will be Rick Swain, Freddie Lee Partin, Rodney Swain, and Gary Byrd. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Carroll, Thomas Carroll, and Kevin Byrd. Entombment to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
