Norman Lee Vowell

DURHAM- Mr. Norman Lee Vowell, 77, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Hock Family Pavilion.
Mr. Vowell was born September 7, 1940 to the late Clyde and Lois Vowell. He was a store manager with A & P Grocery for 30 years and worked with the Harris Teeter set-up crew. Mr. Vowell was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and attended Sunday School. He was involved in singing with the Harbor Masters Quartet and involved with the Southern High School Reunion Group. Mr. Vowell was happily married to his wife, Janet for 33 years. Mr. Vowell will be remembered as a loving, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Vowell is survived by his wife, Janet Rhodes Vowell of 33 years; sons, Lee and Neal Vowell; daughter, Tammie Jo Williams; step-daughters, Deborah Lynn Wood, Kathy Diane Crabtree and Kimberly Ann McDonald; brother, Wesley Vowell; sister, Ruth Corkum; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rodney Hicks.
