I met Bucky originally back in the 1990's when he & I worked at NC DOT, then again in 2014 or so through amateur radio. He was a guy with a great sense of humor and a man of great faith. Many times when my wife was undergoing cancer treatments at Duke in Durham he would ask us if we needed anything.Always a compassionate guy. He's already terribly missed especially in the amateur radio community. I attended the service today and want to thank the family, the funeral home, the Durham County Sheriff's Department , Hudson Funeral home and all others involved, what a well done tribute. My sincere condolences and prayers for all of Bucky’s family. I knew Bucky from ham radio radio where I met him last year. He was always there with a kind word and encouragement for anyone wishing to join in. His stories, observations on life, advice and humor were always a highlight of any QSO. He will be so greatly missed.
Michael (Mike) Callam left a message on January 18, 2022:
I have known Bucky since he got his amateur radio license. I always enjoyed to him on the local repeaters. As a matter of fact, I looked forward to it. We talked several times a week. I was fortunate enough to meet him at some of the hamfests, and on the few occasions that he came to our Saturday morning breakfast. There is only one way to describe Buck, and that is a "true southern gentleman". Bucky, you are, and will continue to be misses by the many people that were fortunate enough to know you, meet you, and talk to you. Rest in peace my brother.

You were the best brother I could have had. You will live in my heart as long as I leave along with Judie, Cookie, Mom and Dad. Love you much Bucky!
Planning ahead is prudent. Call us now.

My condolences. Although we never met, I heard Bucky quite often on the radio all the way up in Boston. It was always good to hear him. May God rest his soul. Dan, KC1JAV
