RAY EASON left a message on October 13, 2021:
So sorry to hear of Roy's passing. I'll always remember the days we worked together at the Post Office in Durham. I never heard Roy say anything bad about anyone. He was a true veteran, always talked about his days with the NC Army National Guard and about our meetings at Homestead Steak House with Roy and Sue, getting together with fellow workers and retirees from the Post Office. Roy was a great friend and will surely be missed.
Kenny Glenn left a message on October 11, 2021:

Susie I am so sorry to hear about Roy's passing. I can't tell you it will get any easier for you because it hasn't for me. You were so sweet when Michael passed calling me several times. I just want you to know that if it is anything that I can do for you please let me know. You and your entire family are in my prayers.

Susie, Scott, Chris, I am so very sorry to hear of Roy's passing. From September of 1989 until he retired, and even after that-anytime I saw him at an event, he was always the same man. Quick wit, a good friend, a sounding board, wise in the ways of the Army and the NCARNG. He never gave bad counsel and could be counted upon to lead the way to the solution to whatever problem we were trying to solve. He was a "platoon daddy", then company 1SGT. He and a couple of other senior NCOs were the glue that held our unit together for quite a few years. We missed him from the day he retired and are ever thankful to you for having shared him with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this trying time. Roy has gone on advance to set things up for when we meet again. God bless you all and Godspeed home Roy!

I have many memories of Roy as my 1SG in Company C and as a friend and mentor. He was always quick with a funny line and always had that cat that just ate the canary smile. I have been blessed and honored to know him and I know he will be missed by all that knew and loved him. I know one day I will see him again and look forward to that glorious day. God bless those he leaves behind, out thoughts and prayers are offered up.

Susie…Scott…Chris, Words cannot express just how much Roy meant to me as a friend and a brother in Christ. Roy could not have been a better example of a great husband, and father to his sons. Two things I know for sure is that Roy is no longer suffering and I know that I will see him again, in Heaven. I thank God for allowing Roy to be a great friend to me. Roy’s love for God, his country, family and friends simply cannot be topped….God bless you all…

Roy and I served together for many years in the Guard. He served his country well and was always a pleasure to be around. I had a lot of respect for him and valued his friendship, and really enjoyed the times we made time for some great conversation. He had a terrific sense of humor and shared his opinions and thoughts freely. His work ethic and dedication ensured success in everything he was involved in, and I always trusted his honesty, character and integrity. Men like Roy, are the best of the best, and I'll never forget all the memories from days gone by. Prayers for comfort and peace will be going up to heaven from me today, for his family and friends, who have lost a valued and respected man, knowing that there will be one fine day when we all meet again.

Roy was my first sergeant in Co C, 1st Battalion, 130th Aviation Regiment in the NC Army National Guard, Morrisville. He was one of the nicest, most pleasant, humorous guys I ever knew. He was an exceptional leader, a person you wanted to work for. Thinking of Roy -- and some of his stories and sayings -- brings a smile to my face.
