Shirley Mims Clifton

DURHAM- Mrs. Shirley Mims Clifton, 88, died on June 19, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Leon Clifton; mother, Maggie Morgan; father, Herman Mims.

Shirley is survived by her son, Doug Clifton and his wife, Sue; daughter, Pam Harper and her husband, Bob; three grandchildren, Morgan Harper, Sean Clifton and his wife Tai, Drew Clifton and his wife Katelyn; four great-grandchildren, Kendall, Bennett, Cora and Claire Clifton; brother, Don Mims.

Shirley worked for many years with the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, where she retired. However, she was best known as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law who loved the Lord.

She was an active member with Bethesda Baptist Church and the Prime-Time Senior Adult Ministry.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Barbee and Rev. Hugh O’Shields. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions can be directed to the Bethesda Baptist Church, Prime-Time Senior Adult Ministry, 2004 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.

The family will receive visitors at the home of Shirley Clifton.
