Sylvia Mae Waller Holder

DURHAM- Mrs. Sylvia Mae Waller Holder, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, January 18, 2018.
Mrs. Holder was born April 29, 1925 in Durham, NC to the late Calvin and Betty Waller. She was the Assistant Manager of the Cafeteria at Neal Junior High School for 18 years. Mrs. Holder was a member of the Triangle Ruritan Club and Oak Grove Athletic Association. She was a highly skilled seamstress. Mrs. Holder was a member of Fletchers Chapel since 1965. She was a loving and sweet mother and was also known as the neighborhood mother. Her home was the place children loved to be.
Mrs. Holder is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Arthur Holder; parents, Calvin and Betty Waller; daughter, Phyllis Norris; grandson, Bradley Watkins; brother, John Waller; sister, Louise Waller.
Mrs. Holder is survived by her daughters, Deborah Holder Hunt (Lewis), Shirley Holder Jayson, (Steve), Stephanie Sue Honeycutt (Banks); sons, Larry B. Holder (Gracie), Mark Holder (Becky); brother, Earl Waller (Shelby); sister, Alma Williams and J.B. Morgan; grandchildren, Haywood Watkins, Robin Watkins, Lee Gibson, Amanda Farnsworth, Greg Holder, and Brandi Tunnel; great-grandchildren, 12; great-great-grandchildren, 3, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Genaves John Rigsbee. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
