Thomas (Tommy) Gunter

DURHAMThomas Richard “Tommy” Gunter, 73, of 1835 E. Geer St., died Monday, November 8, 2010, at Hock Pavilion. Mr. Gunter was born in Durham to the late Charles Richard and Dovie M. Durham Gunter. He was raised in the Methodist Orphanage in Raleigh and was a loving father, friend and brother. Mr. Gunter was a member of Glenn School Road Baptist Church. He was a self-employed roofer. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Gunter and Phillip Gunter.Surviving are three sons, Jamie Gunter and wife, Cynthia, of Durham, Stacey Gunter of Rougemont and Clarence Gunter of Durham; a brother, Charles Gunter of Durham; a sister, Betty Tyndall and husband, Bill, of Durham; his companion, Barbara Ware; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenn School Road Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Charles Wilson. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
