Velma Marie Dittmer

DURHAM- Mrs. Velma Marie Dittmer, 98, passed away, September 28, 2021.

Mrs. Dittmer was born July 24, 1923, to the late Andrew and Alice Salisbury in Peoria, IL. Velma was a member of the Sunshine Group, which sang at nursing homes, churches, and social events. She was a great story teller. Velma enjoyed meeting people and striking up conversations. Mrs. Dittmer was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Indiana and Illinois. She was loved dearly by her family and friends, and she shared that love in return.

In addition to her parents, Velma is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Rev. John Dittmer; sons, Samuel Dittmer and Paul Stephen Dittmer; brother, Ambrose Salisbury; sister, Lillian Salisbury; and grandson, John Mason.

Velma is survived by her daughter Janice D. Hoffa (Norman); daughter-in-law’s, Joyce Dittmer and Judy Dittmer; grandchildren; Julie Johnson (Damion), Jim Dittmer, Chris Hoffa (Gillian Norton), David Dittmer (Kim), Sheila Dittmer, Sondra Sixberry (Troy), Sara Dittmer Bender (Corey), Stephanie Patridge (Sean), Jennifer Cooper (Conrad), Gina Reynolds (Ken), and John Dittmer; granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Mason; great-grandchildren, John Mason, Alicia Mason, Juliana Johnson, Sam Butler, David Butler, Sean Johnson, Daniel Dittmer, Jessica Dittmer, Samantha Dittmer, Tiffany Dittmer, Allison Dittmer, Caden Sixberry, Caleb Sixberry, Krista Sixberry, Corrine Bender, Simone Bender, Wesley Patridge, Wyatt Patridge, Callie Cooper, Coats Cooper, Grace Reynolds, Jade Helms, Kassidy Dittmer, Kelam Dittmer, and Kallie Dittmer; great-great-grandchildren, Alli Helms, Mikie Helms, and Sammy Helms.
