Vera Lockamy Billings

DURHAM Mrs. Vera Lockamy Billings, 94, of Durham, died on Saturday, November 4, 2017.Mrs. Billings was born in Harnett County, the daughter of the late James Bennett Lockamy and Maggie McNeill Lockamy. She retired from Bristol Myers Corp. She was a woman of strength, dignity, compassion, love and truth. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. God was first in her life and then her family and others. She was a faithful steward to her friends and family and loved everyone. Mrs. Billings was a member of First Baptist Church in Durham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Billings; brothers, Warren Lockamy, Otis Lockamy, Ira Lockamy and Madison Lockamy and sisters, Lillian Bunn, Bernice Rosser and daughter-in-law, Janet Billings.She is survived by her son, Larry Billings of Durham; daughter, Judy Hill and husband, Fred of Rougemont; sister, Jane Stephenson of Sanford; six grandchildren, Craig Billings, Renee Cramer, Kim Francisco, Kristie Harris, Freddy Hill II and Travis Hill;15 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Dr. Andy Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Cramer, Christian Cramer, Austin Cramer, Freddy Hill III, Dylan Harris and Rocky Clayton. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Billings, Freddy Hill II, Travis Hill, Lee Cramer, David Harris, Mike Francisco and Stacey Gunter.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
