Viva Mae Pendleton Schouten

SCHOUTENDURHAM Viva Mae Pendleton Schouten, 95, died peacefully Wednesday, January 12, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Elsie Pendleton, born on October 12, 1915 in Pennsylvania. She had been a resident of Durham since 1987. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Phil in 1986, and an infant son. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Harris (Bruce) of Durham and her son, Steve Schouten (Debbie Rice) of Colchester, Vermont; brother, Roger Pendleton of Binghamton, NY; four grandchildren, Tim Harris (Marybeth) of Lincolnton, N.C., Darren Harris (Michelle) of Raleigh N. C., Colleen Morith (Brian) of Alexandria, VA., and Amanda Tokarz (Ben) of Hillsborough, N. H. and eight great-grandchildren, Stephen, Cameron, Ryan and Logan Harris and Timothy, Jacob, Joshua and Rebekah Tokarz.She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church in Durham. Burial will be in New York State in the Spring.
