Wallace Edward “Wally” Burke

DURHAM — Mr. Wallace “Wally” Edward Burke, II, 33, of Durham, left this earth Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was born in Naples, FL and lived in FL, WV, and PA with his family before moving to NC. He was a 1998 graduate of Northern High School where he played soccer. He was an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow and of the Catholic Faith. He worked in the hospitality and cable fields. Wally enjoyed hiking, geology, music, dancing, birds of prey, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Wallace E. and Marie P. Burke of Durham; sisters, Brandi Marie Burke-Hicks (Gregory), Michelle Elizabeth Dafoe (Christopher); brother, Robert George Burke; niece, Charlotte Rose Burke; and nephew, Blake Edward Dafoe.
The family will receive visitors at their home on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, after 4pm at 618 Wanda Ridge Dr., Durham. A Celebration of Life will be held at 618 Wanda Ridge Dr., Durham at 3pm on Sunday, June 8 (Wally’s 34th birthday). In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers. Memorial donations may be made to the Eno River Association at www.enoriver.org or 4404 Guess Road, Durham, NC 27712. This will help preserve the land and the environment that Wally loved.
