William Cotten

DURHAM-Mr. William Herbert Cotten, 82, of 310 Spring Rd. died on Friday, March 25, 2011. He was the son of the later Milton and Faire Holland Cotten. Mr. Cotten worked for Universal Tobacco Co. as a foreman for 33 years before retiring. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Mr. Cotten’s hobbies were that he loved to travel to the Mountains, loved to garden and loved to socialize with his friends. He dearly loved his family.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Clarice Driggers Cotten, 3 sons, William Robert Cotten of Hope Mills, NC; Douglas Henry Cotten and wife Sherry of Hillsborough; Jimmy Wayne Cotten and wife Doris of Durham; 2 daughters, Betty Frances Dixon and husband Lee of Siler City; Cheryl Elaine Lamb of Durham; 1 sister, Shirley Cotten of Hope Mills, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Greg Allison and Rev. Jimmy Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Brier Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Randy Cotten, Lee Dixon, Tim Thaggard Sr., Todd Lemons, Tim Thaggard Jr. and David Hosmer.
