DURHAM- Mr. William Joseph Peterson, Jr. (Bill), 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 18, 2020.
Mr. Peterson was born on September 10, 1954 to the late William and Shirley Peterson in Philadelphia, PA. Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher, and was involved in the prison ministry. He was a tropical fish enthusiast, as well as a coin and baseball memorabilia collector. Bill loved his plants, but most importantly his cats, Tigger, Eeyore, and Izzy. He enjoyed taking cruises and vacationing at the beach. He was a Philadelphia Phillies fan, Philadelphia Eagles fan, and an avid Duke fan. Bill retired from Duke University after 25 years as the Senior Instrument Maker in the Physics Department. He will be remembered as a fine Christian man with a great testimony, who loved his church and his family. Bill will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched.
Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife of 24 years Janet L. Peterson; daughter, Carrie Diaz (Mike); son, Matthew Peterson; step-daughter, Sarah Oakley (Steven); step-son, Stephen King and fiancé Julie; sister, Debbie Ward (Mike); grandchildren, Patrick Krizan, Micah Peterson, Jillian Krizan, Locklin Diaz, and Haven Diaz; and other loving family members.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel.
