William Nelson Small

December 29, 1971 — August 13, 2020

William Nelson Small, of Wake Forest, NC, a beloved son, girls’ dad and brother has passed away before his time.  William passed at the age of 48 on August 13, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones after a brave fight with Glioblastoma.  The son of the late Reverend Jay Allison Fogleman and surviving mother, Linda Williams Fogleman, was born December 29, 1971 in Huntsville, Alabama. William is survived by his two beautiful daughters, Taylor Lindon Small and Baylee Jada Small.  He was cared for and is survived by his sisters—Lee Berrios-Smothers and Connie Small and his partner, Billie Ann Edwards.   William graduated from Southern High School and entered the United States Navy, was awarded a Southeast Asia Medal with a Bronze Star for his service and was a Navy Veteran. Afterwards, he had a long career in the security industry culminating in an honorary General Manager position in the Raleigh branch of Vector Security.  William enjoyed time with his girls, friends and family, always the life of the party. William was an avid fisherman and hunter. The only thing William loved more than fishing was his girls. He always said to the girls, “Always what?” and they would reply, “daddy’s baby” and he would say, “no matter what” and they would follow, “how old I get.” In recent years he had renewed his passion for Christ and was living a life full of joy and peace and spreading this feeling of contentment to everyone he came in contact with. William attended Bible Baptist Church of Creedmoor, NC. but was a member of Berea Baptist Church of Durham, NC.

Surviving family: Mother: Linda Williams Fogleman; Daughters: Taylor Small, Baylee Small; Sisters: Lee Berrios-Smothers (Chad), Connie Small (Jennifer), Kathleen “KC” Irwin (Frank) Beth Small; Brothers: Jason Fogleman (Kathe), Joe Fogleman, Trey Small (Emily).

Pallbearers will be Mike Beaumont, Austin Berrios, Braxton Berrios, Jerry Byrd, Jule Cameron, Drew Jones, Linnie Oakley, Andy Riggs and Trey Small.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Berea Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Wortham and Rev. Jimmy Hall.
